Poland has once again intercepted a Russian spy plane over the Baltic Sea. Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz reported on Monday that Polish fighter jets intercepted a Russian IL-20 reconnaissance aircraft flying over the Baltic Sea.
The Russian aircraft had no registered flight plan and was flying with the transponder turned off. Polish authorities consider these omissions to be violations of international aviation and air security protocols.
This incident occurs in a context of recurring tensions in the Baltic Sea region, where Russian aircraft frequently carry out reconnaissance operations near the borders of NATO member countries. Poland, as a member of the alliance, maintains constant air surveillance over its airspace.
