Cabo Verde wants to remove children from the prison system

The Cabo Verde Minister of Justice expressed the intention to transform the Orlando Pantera Center into a structure for the education and reintegration of children. The main objective of this transformation is to remove children from the country's prison system. The project envisages that the center will be outside the prison structure, no longer being associated with the criminal justice system. This initiative comes in a context where the Cabo Verde authorities intend to create a more appropriate approach to dealing with minors in conflict with the law, prioritizing education and social reintegration over imprisonment.
