A centenary pine tree classified by the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests toppled over in a green area next to Rua Engenheiro Henri Perron, in Vanicelos, shortly after 2pm, without causing any fatalities. The fall was due to the failure of the tree's root system.
Nine vehicles were damaged as a result of the incident, and Setúbal City Council began receiving information from affected owners to proceed with vehicle repairs as quickly as possible.
Emergency teams were deployed immediately, with personnel from the Setúbal Career Fire Brigade, Setúbal Volunteer Firefighters, Municipal Security and Civil Protection Service, PSP, and Setúbal Municipal Services responding, totaling 23 personnel.
The response was attended by councilors Paulo Maia and Bruno Russo, responsible for the portfolios of Civil Protection and Environment, and included four vehicles from the Career Firefighters, including a 32-meter aerial ladder truck, two vehicles from the Volunteers, and a grab truck from the Municipal Services.
