PCP wants worksheets books, meals, and free school supplies for all students

Público31 August 2026 at 16:40

The Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) will again present proposals to guarantee the gratuity of various school materials and services. The communists will propose the gratuity of worksheets books, mandatory school supplies, and school meals for all students.

Furthermore, the PCP will again advocate for the creation of a public network of nurseries. This measure aims to facilitate access to early childhood education and support Portuguese families.

The PCP's proposals come at the beginning of a new school year, a time when many families face significant expenses with the costs of their children's education. Worksheets books, school supplies, and meals represent considerable financial burdens for many families.

These are not new proposals from the PCP, which has been insisting on these measures across various legislatures. The communists argue that education must be accessible to all students, regardless of their families' economic situation.
