Miranda do Corvo prepares regulation to protect paths and municipal roads

Campeão das Províncias31 August 2026 at 17:09

The Miranda do Corvo City Council has initiated the process of creating a General Regulation for the Use of Public Domain Spaces and Rural Activity, with the objective of protecting and conserving public roads, municipal paths, country lanes and the forest road network of the municipality.

The regulation covers agricultural, forestry, livestock, tourist and recreational activities that involve the use of machines, equipment or vehicles likely to cause damage to municipal infrastructure. Operators must inform the council about the work to be carried out, indicating the type of operation, dates, machines used, location and route, through a prior communication regime.

After the completion of operations, the council may carry out inspections to assess the condition of the roads and identify any damage, with those responsible being obligated to carry out the respective repairs. Operators are also obligated to guarantee traffic safety, signal works, avoid obstructing the roadway, remove waste and protect existing infrastructure. Fines are foreseen for those who cause damage to roads, obstruct traffic, abandon waste or carry out works without the required prior communication.

Small-scale operations carried out by small farmers are exempt from prior communication, as are urgent interventions, emergencies or civil protection operations. The council highlighted that the protection of these spaces contributes to a safer, more accessible municipality prepared to meet the needs of families.
