PSOE attacks PP: "They are using Ceuta against the president of the Government"

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General31 August 2026 at 16:19

PSOE attacked the PP for the rallies called for this Wednesday in various municipalities under the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), considering that this mobilization opened a war between the two main parties. The socialists even sent an internal circular with instructions for their officials not to participate in these actions.

The spokesperson for PSOE, Montse Míngues, publicly accused the PP of "manipulating" institutions for its partisan use. At a press conference after the executive meeting, the socialist official stated that the rallies are not made in defense of Ceuta, but rather against the president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.

Míngues also questioned whether the PP really cares about the autonomous city of Ceuta or if it is merely seeking to gain political advantage from the crisis. The socialist criticized the conservative party for not behaving as a party of State and for not collaborating, for example, in the reception of migrant minors.
