Carris wants to launch international tender for Elevador da Glória in the first quarter of 2027

Carris intends to launch an international tender for the new Elevador da Glória in the first quarter of 2027. The project will replace the elevator that was destroyed, maintaining the same location.

The presentation took place at a press conference at the Ordem dos Engenheiros, in Lisbon. Rui Lopo was responsible for presenting the five main characteristics of the new project during this event.

Elevador da Glória. Fully new and "safer" structure

Carris expects to have the new Elevador da Glória in Lisbon completed by the first half of 2029. After the fire that destroyed the original structure, the company will launch an international tender between January and March 2027 for the design and construction of a totally new infrastructure, which will ensure compliance with all safety standards. The president of Carris assures that it will be a "safer" installation and that, given it is not possible to recover what was destroyed, the goal is to build a completely new elevator.
