PSP Union Association decides new protests on September 10

SAPO Notícias31 August 2026 at 15:17

The Police Professionals Union Association (ASPP/PSP) announced that it will hold a meeting on September 10 to decide on new nationwide protests. During this meeting, the forms of struggle that the association intends to adopt will be defined.

The protests aim to pressure the Government to respond to the claims of the profession. The association expresses dissatisfaction with the lack of action on the part of the government authorities regarding the problems raised by PSP professionals.

This decision comes in a context of growing tension between Public Security Police professionals and the executive, with ASPP/PSP demonstrating determination to fight for its demands with the Ministry of Internal Administration.

El Salvador's security minister praises Bukele's regime, criticizes 'pseudo-human rights defenders'

El Salvador's Minister of Justice and Public Security, Gustavo Villatoro, defended President Nayib Bukele's security model on Monday (31st) at Fiesp in São Paulo as a war strategy against criminal organizations that had created a "parallel criminal state" in the country. Villatoro attributed the retaking of control over gang-dominated territories to the state of exception decreed in 2022 and the toughening of laws. The Salvadoran experience has inspired right-wing candidates in Brazil, such as Sérgio Moro, who announced plans to name a maximum security prison "El Salvador" if elected governor of Paraná.
