In Ferreira do Zêzere, a traditional basket weaving workshop keeps alive a tradition over 110 years old. This artisanal art consists of transforming willow into various utensils, such as baskets, fruit bowls and bases for pots.
The craftsman José Henriques runs a workshop in the town where he teaches these traditional techniques. His main objective is to transmit the knowledge to the younger generations, encouraging them to continue this ancestral craft.
The initiative aims to preserve an activity that is part of the cultural heritage of the region and that risks being lost without proper appreciation and training of new generations of craftsmen.
