The PSP carried out a high-visibility operation in the Baixa do Porto, targeting suspects of crimes occurring in the Movida area. The intervention took place in the early morning of August 29 and mobilised elements from the Criminal Investigation Division.
The operation specifically targeted individuals related to recent assaults on German citizens that gained prominence on social media and news outlets, resulting in two arrests and 21 suspects identified.
The authorities highlighted the preventive and repressive nature of the action, which aimed to demonstrate police presence in the historic area of the city, frequently visited by tourists and young people.
