The male unemployment rate in Portugal fell to 1998 levels, according to recent labor market data. This milestone represents a significant improvement in the labor situation of men in the country.
However, among young people, the reality is different, with the unemployment rate exceeding 20%. This disparity between age groups highlights the challenges that the Portuguese labor market still faces in integrating the younger population.
On a positive note, the general unemployment rate in Portugal remains below 6% for the fifth consecutive month, reflecting stability in employment nationwide.
Regarding labor underutilization, it was at minimum values in June, but has already shown a slight increase in July, indicating a possible trend change in the Portuguese labor market.
