David, a Vasco player, was targeted in an operation by the Civil Police of Espírito Santo on Monday morning, related to a criminal organization. Before that, the striker was not having a good moment with the vascaína fans, being constantly criticized by supporters for the chances missed on the field.
Despite being regularly used as the starting center-forward by coach Pedro Emanuel, David went through a long goal drought. The player went almost five months without scoring, considering the break for the World Cup between June and July.
The striker's last goal before the drought occurred on April 4, in the 2-1 loss to Botafogo, in the Brazilian Championship. He only found the net again on the 20th, in the 4-1 rout over O..., showing that his recovery as a goal scorer was recent and still ongoing.
Vasco issued a statement saying it awaits the conclusion of the investigations, demonstrating caution regarding the situation that involves one of its players in an operation linked to drug and arms trafficking.
