The Mozambican President, Daniel Chapo, promised on Sunday to eliminate the "complicometer" and continue with reforms to improve the business environment in the country. At the opening of the 61st Maputo International Fair (Facim), Chapo argued that there is no sustainable investment without trust, predictability and transparency, reiterating Mozambique's openness to national and foreign investment focused on innovation and strategic partnerships.
The head of state announced that the Government has created the Office for Reforms and Strategic Projects at the Presidency of the Republic to approve laws that hinder economic growth. Chapo committed to simplifying administrative procedures, digitizing public services, reducing costs and strengthening regulatory predictability to make the country more competitive.
In his speech, the President stressed that the solution to the foreign exchange problem lies in increasing national production and exports. "Therefore, your achievements demonstrate that exporting is not just about selling abroad. It is about proving to the world that Mozambique knows how to produce, knows how to compete and knows how to win," he declared.
The 61st Facim runs until September 5 at the Ricatla International Fair and Exhibition Center, with the participation of nearly 3,000 exhibitors from 29 countries, including 600 foreign companies and 2,300 national ones. Brazil is the guest of honor country and Portugal is participating with more than 100 companies, including the Secretary of State for the Economy and the president of AICEP.
