ExpoMor 2026 takes place in Montemor-o-Novo between September 2 and 7, maintaining its focus on extensive livestock farming, agriculture and the valorization of rural territory. Despite the reduction in livestock numbers recorded in several European countries, the organization expects to gather around a thousand animals at what is considered one of the main national exhibitions in the sector.
Rádio Campanário spoke with Joaquim Capoulas, president of APORMOR, who highlighted the evolution of the exhibition and the more favorable context for the occupation of rural territory. The official stated that the Covid-19 pandemic contributed to greater social awareness about the importance of food production, emphasizing that ExpoMor aims to strengthen the link between agricultural activity, food production and sustainability.
This edition pays special attention to the role of women in agriculture, as part of the International Year of the Woman Farmer. On September 7, the colloquium "Women Farmers – Voices, Experiences and Challenges" will take place, which will include testimonies from women from Portugal and Spain, including Maria do Céu Salgueiro, Laura Regueiro, Rita Bonacho, Inês Marques Lopes, Teresa Pinto Correia and Pia Sanchez. Throughout the event, 14 video reports on women farmers will also be shown and the photographic exhibition "Roots of Woman – Seeds of Future," promoted by CCDR do Centro, will be presented.
Joaquim Capoulas also highlighted the Country Festival on the 5th, national competitions and animal auctions as important moments in the program. The president of APORMOR stated that participants feel that their presence at ExpoMor is profitable, both in terms of the commercial aspect and the exposure to professionals and visitors.
