Ajax inquired about Borja Sainz and did not insist

Dia de Jogo — jornal desportivo31 August 2026 at 13:03

Ajax showed interest in Borja Sainz, a player from FC Porto, having made an approach to the Portuguese club for the Spanish winger. However, the Dutch club did not go beyond the initial contact with the Porto board.

After hearing FC Porto's response, the Ajax decision-makers decided not to move forward with a formal offer for the player's signing. Thus, the transfer did not materialize during this transfer window.

Borja Sainz, 23 years old, has been an important figure in the Dragons' attack since arriving at the club. The Spanish player finished the last season as one of the team's top scorers, which likely contributed to the interest from Ajax.

FC Porto stood firm in their position, not giving in to the Dutch club's advances. The forward therefore remains at the Dragão, continuing his trajectory in Portuguese football.
