The Municipality of Angra do Heroísmo, in partnership with Grupo INSCO, promoted the requalification and reforestation of Conde Sieuve de Meneses Avenue and ecological recovery interventions in the natural area of Matela, reinforcing the valorization of green spaces, biodiversity and natural heritage of the municipality.
On Conde Sieuve de Meneses Avenue, trees that showed signs of senescence and degradation in the northern section were removed, and 25 cypress trees (Cupressus sempervirens) were planted, a species selected for its adaptation to the location and potential for enhancing the existing tree structure.
In the natural area of Matela, the work focused on the ecological recovery of the space, through the replacement of endemic species previously installed that did not survive, identification of existing species and preparation of a new area intended for reforestation, with a regular maintenance and monitoring plan.
Councilor Sónia Ferreira stated that these interventions continue a policy of valorization of green spaces, allowing actions to be carried out with positive impacts on environmental quality and preservation of endemic species, reinforcing the Municipality's commitment to a greener and more sustainable territory.
