Benfica's women's futsal team won the Iberian Cup on Sunday, a competition held at Pavillón Piño Vilachá in Cartelle, in the Province of Ourense, in Galicia. The red and whites secured victories in both matches played over the weekend.
On Saturday, Benfica's team started their campaign with a 5-3 win over Futsi Navalcarnero. The Spanish side took an early lead, but Andreza Queiroz scored a brace, Sara Ferreira found the net twice, and Janice Silva sealed the victory for the Eagles.
In the second match, played on Sunday, Benfica defeated Castro FSF 6-1. The starting five was composed of Ana Catarina, Fifó, Maria Pereira, Gaby Vanelli, and Janice Silva. The red and white performance was overwhelming from the first to the last minute of the match.
Gaby Vanelli, a reinforcement who came from Roma, opened the scoring for the rout by finding the net in the first half, alongside Ana Oliveira. In the second half, Fifó and Janice Silva both scored braces, setting the final score at 6-1.
