Nova Iguaçu, a municipality in Baixada Fluminense, received positive feedback from Light to use the necessary land for the construction of four new stormwater reservoirs and the revitalization of a fifth. The measure represents another step towards the realization of one of the largest flood control projects in the State of Rio de Janeiro.

The reservoirs will have a total capacity to store 346 million liters of rainwater. The project aims to reduce the flooding problems that affect the municipality, especially during periods of intense precipitation.

The partnership with Light is fundamental to make viable the use of the land where the reservoirs will be built. With the company's positive response, the City Hall of Nova Iguaçu can continue with the water infrastructure plan.

The project is part of a broader effort to combat flooding in Baixada Fluminense, a region historically vulnerable to floods. The completion of the works should benefit thousands of residents of the city.
