"It wasn't a good day": Glovo rider only managed to earn this amount in almost 6 hours of work and wasn't 'happy'

A Glovo rider in Portugal named Carine Mariano shared on TikTok the results of a working day in which she made nine deliveries in almost six hours, traveling 57 kilometers. The amount earned was approximately 27.90 euros before deducting expenses, which results in an average of 3.10 euros per delivery. After spending seven euros on fuel, approximately 20.90 euros remained available.

The worker stated in the video that she did not consider it a good day, although she acknowledged that earnings can vary from day to day. Carine added that less positive days are part of the reality of this type of work, both in Portugal and anywhere else.

The article also mentions that in Spain the situation is similar, with vehicle expenses, fuel, maintenance, and materials being borne by the rider herself. A delivery worker named Daniela, accompanied by the portal Noticias Trabajo in Almeria, explained that all vehicle expenses are her responsibility. Daniela also stated that Glovo's payment only starts counting from the moment she picks up the order, with the journey to the establishment being at her own expense.

The case draws attention to the difference between the amount received for deliveries and the money that actually remains after paying the expenses associated with the activity. In Carine's case, the 57 kilometers traveled resulted in a cost of seven euros in fuel, which significantly reduced the earnings for that day.

Exiting a franchise should be evaluated before signing

The Brazilian franchise market exceeded R$ 300 billion in annual revenue for the first time, reaching R$ 301.7 billion in 2025, with nominal growth of 10.5% compared to the previous year. The country ended the period with 202,444 operations, 3,297 networks, and approximately 1.762 million direct jobs. The sector's growth reinforces the need to analyze what happens not only during opening and operation, but at the moment of renewing, selling, transferring, or closing a unit. Data from the Brazilian Franchising Association shows that 4% of operations were transferred during the year, while 7.4% were closed. The Franchise Law establishes that the candidate must receive the Franchise Offering Circular (COF) at least ten days before signing the contract.
