Enrollments in Desenrola 2.0, the new version of the federal government's debt renegotiation program, end this Monday. The provisional measure that established the program will expire without being voted on and cannot be extended. To enroll in the program, interested parties must contact the official channels of banks.
The modality aimed at families renegotiated, until the beginning of the last week of August, approximately 5.03 million debts. The debts originally totaled R$ 26.3 billion and, after the agreements, were reduced to approximately R$ 5.2 billion. The program also provides for the possibility of using part of the FGTS balance for partial amortization or full settlement of debts.
Desenrola was recreated in a context of high indebtedness and elevated commitment of family income. In the government's view, this situation was generating risks for the economy in the medium and long term, as well as negatively impacting presidential popularity. The program's logic is that banks offer more favorable renegotiation conditions to debtors.
