Around 500 children participated last Friday in the activity that marked the closure of the last period of the "Summer Holidays" project, promoted by the Municipality of Albufeira. Between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, the 20 enrolled groups went through five stations installed at Escola Básica Dr. Francisco Cabrita, in an afternoon dedicated to sport, exploration, water activities and creativity. Each group gathered around 25 participants.
The children went through the stations "I'm an Athlete," "I'm an Explorer," "I'm a Diver," "I'm Active," and "I'm Free," organized in a rotation system. On the sports field, the "I'm an Athlete" station included football, basketball and tug of war. In the amphitheater, "I'm an Explorer" began with a brief story that served as a starting point for a treasure hunt. The "I'm a Diver" station provided activities in the pool, trampolines and water play, while "I'm Active" was dedicated to water games.
The "I'm Free" station combined musical chairs with the creation of a collective mural, where children were invited to complete the phrase "The Summer Holiday Project for me is…" through words or drawings. The councilor of the Municipality of Albufeira, Maria Cristina Corado, highlighted that the project provides children with moments of learning, socializing and fun during school break, in an environment that is supervised and designed for their well-being.
The mayor emphasized that each activity was prepared to encourage sports practice, creativity, curiosity and team spirit, and that the participation of around 500 children in this last period demonstrates the importance that this response has for families. The activities were led by technicians and supervised by the project's monitors, closing with an afternoon of socializing, fun and sharing among the participants.
