The Regata Canárias - Madeira is a nautical competition that is about to reach almost five decades of history. On September 1st, 30 sailboats will depart from the island of Tenerife, in the Azores, heading to Madeira, thus covering 262 miles of Atlantic Ocean.
Participants face a demanding challenge that includes strong winds and typical Atlantic waves. The race connects the Spanish Canary Islands to the Portuguese Madeiran archipelago, establishing a reference transatlantic route in regional sailing.
The event brings together sailors from different origins who compete in this long-distance crossing. The tradition of the race, with almost 50 years, remains a landmark in the nautical sports calendar of the region.
