Inflation accelerated to 3.3% in August, according to data from the National Statistics Institute. This acceleration is explained by the behavior of fuels, which contributed significantly to the increase in the consumer price index.
The August reading is still provisional, meaning the data may be revised. However, the numbers already allow us to anticipate the impact on rents for next year.
Based on this inflation rate, a possible rent increase of 2.56% is expected next year. This rent update is provided for in Portuguese legislation on leasing.
INE is the body responsible for producing official statistics in Portugal, including the monthly calculation of the inflation rate, which serves as a reference for multiple economic and contractual adjustments in the country.
