Dolly Parton died at age 80 on Tuesday after a brief battle with cancer, according to a statement from her representatives to People magazine. Four days after her death, her younger sister Freida Parton, 69, who is also a singer, posted a tribute on social media on Saturday (29), accompanied by an old photograph of the two.
Freida recalled that Dolly raised her during part of her adolescence and stated that, despite having had arguments over the years, she never stopped loving her. Her niece Lainey Parton also posted a tribute to the artist.
Three days after her death, Dolly Parton was buried in a private ceremony at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum, in Nashville, Tennessee, where her husband Carl Dean, who died in March 2025 at age 82, is also buried.
