The district of Braga recorded 27 arrests for forest fires between the beginning of the year and August 15, according to data from the National Republican Guard. Braga is the third district in the country with the most arrests for this cause.
The district is only surpassed by Leiria, which recorded 35 arrests, and by Vila Real, with 29 arrests. Guarda comes right after Braga, with 25 arrests in the same period.
The data was collected by the GNR throughout the first months of the year until mid-August, a period that includes the critical fire season in Portugal.
