Pavilhão Francisco de Holanda in Guimarães hosts the fifth edition of the Torneio José Carlos Correia, a pre-season handball event featuring Xico Andebol as the host team, as well as FC Porto B, CD São Bernardo and AA São Mamede. The tournament takes place over a weekend and aims to serve as preparation for the new season.
Created in 2021 by initiative of president Mauro Fernandes, the tournament has an important commemorative character, paying tribute to José Carlos Correia, an unavoidable figure in the history of Xico Andebol, Desportivo Francisco de Holanda and handball in Guimarães. His name remains linked to the identity and trajectory of the club.
The initiative aims to preserve the memory and recognize the legacy left by José Carlos Correia, while projecting the future of the sport in Guimarães. More than a sporting competition, the tournament presents itself as a moment of historical recognition.
This year's edition will also include the official presentation of Xico Andebol's senior team to the fans, in a season that the club approaches with ambition and expectation.
