Supervisors authorized João Moreira Rato to accumulate the position at Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD) with the leadership of Pharol. This authorization allows Moreira Rato to maintain his functions at CGD while assuming the presidency of Pharol.
João Moreira Rato will be the new chairman of Pharol's management, replacing Luís Palha da Silva in the position. This change represents an alteration in the leadership of the telecommunications company.
However, despite assuming the presidency of Pharol, Moreira Rato will not be responsible for the daily management of the institution. This condition may be related to the limitations imposed by supervisors regarding the accumulation of positions.
The situation reflects the regulatory complexity associated with accumulating positions in different financial institutions, particularly in the case of CGD, which is a Portuguese state-owned bank subject to tight supervision.
