Maximum temperatures will rise significantly in mainland Portugal from Wednesday onwards, with increases of 10 to 12 degrees Celsius in some locations, according to the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA). This abrupt temperature rise represents a considerable weather change for mainland Portuguese territory. The regions most affected by the intense heat will be the Tagus Valley, Beira Baixa and Alentejo, where thermometers may reach values between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius. IPMA is the agency responsible for this weather forecast, having issued an alert about the extreme weather conditions expected for the coming days.
