The Left Bloc strongly criticized the municipality of Santa Cruz's performance in the area of housing, considering that the Municipal Housing Charter, currently under public consultation, does not address the main housing problems of the municipality. The party believes that this document, on its own, is insufficient to solve the housing crisis experienced in the municipality.
BE accused the Santa Cruz City Council of having significantly delayed the public response to the housing needs of the population. This delay in implementing concrete measures is viewed by the party as a serious failure in municipal management, which left many citizens without access to decent housing.
According to the party, the municipality lost more than 60 million euros that could have been mobilized through the 1st Right program. This government program was specifically intended to support municipalities in the construction and rehabilitation of housing for families in vulnerable situations, and BE maintains that Santa Cruz did not know how to take advantage of this funding opportunity.
