The Portuguese companies absorbed about 40% of the funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), the European financing program nicknamed the "bazooka." By the end of August, almost 9 billion euros had been approved for the business sector.
The list of most supported companies is led by Petrogal, belonging to the Galp group. This energy company ranks first among the main beneficiaries of these European funds.
In addition to Petrogal, the group of most supported companies includes other companies from the energy, cement and retail sectors. These strategic sectors have been the main recipients of investments supported by the PRR.
The PRR was created to support Portugal's economic recovery after the covid-19 pandemic, channeling European funds to investment projects in various areas of the national economy.
