The leisure bike lane destined for self-propelled vehicles, such as scooters and electric devices with a maximum manufacturing speed of 32 km/h, was inaugurated yesterday on the South Zone waterfront in Rio de Janeiro. The structure will operate every Sunday and holiday, from 8am to 4pm, occupying a driving lane of the vehicle track next to the central divider along the waterfronts of Leblon, Ipanema and Copacabana.
The inauguration was marked by many doubts among users. Agents from the Municipal Secretary of Public Order (Seop) were present to guide the population about the change, which occurred following a municipal decree published on the 25th, containing clearer rules for mopeds, electric bicycles and individual self-propelled mobility equipment in the city.
