Canker sores: why they appear and how we can get rid of them?

ZAP Notícias31 August 2026 at 09:00

Canker sores are painful lesions that appear suddenly inside the mouth and are especially common in adolescents and young adults. These small wounds make eating, drinking and even speaking surprisingly uncomfortable, often dominating the day of those affected.

Canker sores can be triggered by various factors, including minor trauma to the mouth, emotional stress, certain foods, medications or nutritional deficiencies. Identifying these triggers can help with prevention.

The good news is that most canker sores disappear on their own after one or two weeks, with no specific medical treatment usually needed. However, understanding why they appear and what can be done to prevent them can make a significant difference in quality of life.
