NASA launched on Sunday the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, the largest panoramic observatory ever built. The launch was carried out at 07:26 Eastern United States time (12:26 in Lisbon) from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket.
The Nancy Grace Roman Telescope is already in Space and has a field of view 100 times superior to that of the Hubble telescope. This characteristic allows it to observe a much larger area of the sky in each image captured.
NASA's new telescope aims to map the invisible Universe, exploring cosmic regions and phenomena that cannot be detected by traditional telescopes. This unprecedented observation capability may reveal information about the structure and evolution of the cosmos.
The information was reported by the Spanish news agency EFE, which covered the launch of the observatory that promises to transform our understanding of the Universe.
