Iran retaliated after the United States carried out attacks on Larak island, located in the Strait of Hormuz. These American attacks represent the first in about a month, after a period in which Washington favored other forms of pressure on Tehran.
According to the American government, the bombings were aimed at preventing Iranian forces from threatening maritime transit in that strategic region of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important shipping routes in the world.
