Florianópolis received on Sunday, August 23, the "IX Azores Brazil Meeting," which brought together representatives from the eight Houses of the Azores existing in the largest country in South America. The event marked the formal establishment of the "National Network of Houses of the Azores in Brazil," creating a unified body to coordinate the activities of these institutions.
The initiative was promoted by the Government of the Azores, through the Regional Secretariat for External Affairs. The Houses of the Azores are institutions that represent the Azorian community in Brazil, keeping alive the traditions and cultural ties between the Portuguese archipelago and the Brazilian diaspora.
The meeting represented an important milestone for the organization of the Azorian community abroad, allowing for greater coordination among the different houses existing in Brazilian territory. The formalization of the network aims to strengthen cooperation between these institutions and the regional government of the Azores.
