Montenegro announced the creation of the University of Bragança and Interior North, a new higher education institution that aims to strengthen the educational offer in the northern region of the country. This initiative comes as a response to the need to expand access to higher education in a predominantly inland area.
The new university aims to strengthen scientific and academic research in the region, contributing to the development of the country's interior. The institution hopes to attract students who currently do not have nearby higher education options in their communities.
The creation of this university is part of a broader strategy to combat the depopulation of the interior and promote territorial cohesion. The goal is to retain population and talent in the inland regions, offering quality higher education without the need to migrate to major urban centers.
