The 60-year-old Italian man who was detained last Friday in the town of Isla Cristina, in Huelva, was released by the judicial authority. The Guardia Civil of Huelva reported that the hypothesis that led to his detention was ruled out, so the individual is no longer in custody.
The man was initially detained for being related to the death of his partner, a case that had been classified as gender-based violence. However, subsequent investigations made it possible to rule out suspicion of his involvement in the facts.
The authorities concluded that there was not enough evidence to maintain the initial theory, leading to the archiving of this line of investigation and the consequent release of the suspect. The case continues to be investigated to determine the actual circumstances of the woman's death.
