Courts reopen after judicial holidays: the (new and old) cases on trial

Portuguese courts resumed activity this week after the holiday period, beginning new trials and continuing pending cases. This reopening marks the return of several cases of great media and judicial relevance that will be judged in the coming months.

Among the cases going to trial are four PSP elements, the Public Security Police, who will be tried for crimes not yet specified in the article. These proceedings join others that were suspended during the judicial holiday period.

The BES case, which involves Banco Espírito Santo and its ramifications, returns to court with sessions already scheduled. Also Operation Marquês, one of the most complex and media-exposed judicial proceedings in the country, resumes its activity with new sessions scheduled shortly.

In addition to these, other cases of great importance continue or begin during this post-holiday phase, including the BES Angola, Tutti Frutti, Lex and Perfect Storm cases, which shall continue to be followed in the coming months.
