Fall injures friend who was looking for missing Ukrainian at Cape Roca

A 40-year-old man was injured after falling from a cliff while looking for a missing Ukrainian citizen at Cabo da Roca, in Sintra. The man broke his arm as a result of the fall.

Authorities were conducting searches for the Ukrainian who disappeared in the area of Cabo da Roca, one of the westernmost points of mainland Portugal. During the search operations, the missing man's friend suffered the accident by falling from the cliff.

The injured man was assisted at the scene and transported to receive medical care, with no life-threatening injuries reported. The search for the Ukrainian citizen continued after the incident.

Susana Cristeta, at 22 years old, suffered a serious accident at a water park in the Algarve in the mid-90s, when she was going down a slide and two people crashed into her, causing a spinal injury that left her tetraplegic with a prognosis of being in a wheelchair. Conscious throughout the incident, she was taken to Portimão Hospital and later transferred by helicopter to Lisbon, where she learned the extent of the injury. After treatments, physiotherapy, and surgery to reposition the displaced vertebrae, Susana refused to accept the prognosis and managed to walk again about three months later, in a recovery process she decided to share publicly.
