Diesel and gasoline even cheaper in Spain from Tuesday with 20 and 5 cent discount on tax

Jornal O Interior30 August 2026 at 16:58

The Spanish Government will once again apply fuel discounts starting next Tuesday, with reductions of 20 cents per liter of diesel and 5 cents per liter of gasoline. The measure consists of applying a discount on the hydrocarbon tax. This decision comes as a response to the increase in fuel prices, which has been driven by the war in the Middle East. The decree-law that approves this measure has already been approved by the Spanish executive.

The diesel crisis is expected to worsen with the start of planting in Brazil

Brazil is about to begin the planting season amid a global diesel supply crisis, coinciding with the seasonal peak demand for the fuel that powers the agricultural sector. As Brazil is the world's largest exporter of crops such as soybeans, cotton, coffee, sugar, and orange juice, an increase in agricultural costs could spread through global supply chains. The country is the world's second-largest diesel importer, behind only Australia, which means the peak of Brazilian planting should further worsen the global diesel shortage.
