The Nationality Law is in effect, but some requirements established in the legislation "are not practicable" without proper regulation. This is stated by Isabel Comte, who instructed nationality processes for 16 years and highlighted the need for practical implementation of the law.
According to the specialist, there are requirements that were defined in the law but lack complementary norms to be applied. This situation creates difficulties for both the services processing the requests and the applicants.
Isabel Comte expressed concern about the situation of citizens awaiting decisions on their applications, warning that "we cannot leave people in a limbo." The specialist argued that practical solutions are needed so that the law can be effectively applied.
The issue of regulation arises in a context where many nationality processes depend on specific procedures that have not yet been fully defined, creating uncertainty about the rights of candidates for Portuguese nationality.
