Fernando Pimenta becomes K1 5.000 champion

Fernando Pimenta became world champion in K1 5,000 meters in Poznan, Poland. The Portuguese canoeist thus completed a double of world titles, after also winning the K1 1,000 meters event on Saturday.

The athlete represented Portugal with international success, winning the title in the longest distance of flatwater sprint competitions. This victory consolidates Fernando Pimenta as one of the main names in Portuguese canoeing worldwide.

The competition took place in Poland, the country that hosted the Canoe Sprint World Championships. Portugal thus achieved two world titles in the same edition of the competition.
