Alice Walton, the only daughter of Walmart founder Sam Walton, tops Forbes' ranking of the world's richest women with a fortune of $114.6 billion, equivalent to approximately R$595.5 billion. The list brings together fortunes from diverse sectors, including cosmetics, mining, shipping, food, steel, financial services, casinos and e-commerce.

The ranking of the ten richest women in the world is predominantly composed of heiresses. Almost all of them inherited their fortunes from parents, grandparents or husbands, or received shares in divorces. Among them, four are widows. The complete list was made available by Forbes, with dollar values that are updated daily according to the performance of company stocks.

Despite the growth in the number of female billionaires, the billionaire club remains overwhelmingly male. According to Forbes, of the 3,428 people with fortunes above $1 billion in the world, only 481 are women, representing 14% of the total. In the previous survey, there were 406 billionaires, corresponding to 13.4% of the ranking, showing a small increase in female participation among the super-rich.
