Solar parks face an unexpected challenge in vegetation control. Grass that grows between panels can shade them and reduce their efficiency, as well as increase fire risk.
Goats were tested as a solution, but proved counterproductive. The animals damage solar panels with their hooves and movements, causing significant damage to the infrastructure.
Cows also proved unviable for this task. Their size prevents them from moving adequately between rows of panels, making them impractical for the solar park environment.
Sheep emerged as the ideal solution. Their appropriate size allows them to move easily between panels, keeping vegetation controlled without damaging the structures, which has led to their increasing adoption in solar parks.
