Beachgoers flock to Algarve beaches over the weekend

The beaches of the Algarve recorded a large influx of bathers over the weekend, with many Portuguese and foreign tourists taking advantage of the return of the warm weather. The sun returned to shine over the southern region of Portugal after days of cooler temperatures.

The main coastal destinations in the region, known for their golden sand beaches and crystal-clear waters, welcomed visitors looking to make the most of the favorable weather conditions. The weekend marked by good weather allowed the beach season to return to normal.

International tourists, coming from various European countries, joined national residents in enjoying the Algarve beaches. The region is traditionally one of the most sought-after destinations during the summer season in Portugal.

The last Monday of August in Portugal will be marked by distinct weather conditions between the mainland and the Azores. On the mainland, the sky will be partly cloudy or clear, with the possibility of morning fog in the North and Central regions, but wind gusts may reach 60 km/h on the west coast and in the highlands. In the Azores, precipitation will affect the three island groups differently throughout the day: showers in the early morning in the Eastern Group, light rain in the early morning and late afternoon in the Central Group, and rain during the afternoon in the Western Group, with winds between 10 and 30 km/h.
