The violent flash flood that hit Nepal and part of Chinese Tibet last Wednesday has already caused 804 dead on both sides of the border, according to the latest available toll. Authorities continue to update the death toll as rescue work advances in the affected areas.
Thousands of personnel are involved in the search operations, trying to locate more than 3,000 missing people. Rescue teams are also working to deliver food and other basic necessities to survivors in the areas devastated by the disaster.
The overflow of the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers was responsible for the destruction caused by this flash flood, which razed several inhabited areas. The magnitude of the disaster led to a massive humanitarian effort to assist the affected populations.
