The Algarve emerges as the region of the country with the largest discrepancies in this matter. This area presents particularly pronounced asymmetries between different municipalities, which reflects the specifics of the local real estate market, marked by high housing prices and strong demand, especially linked to tourism.
The phenomenon is not isolated and fits within a broader context of rising housing costs in Portugal, which has been making property ownership increasingly difficult for a large part of the population.
