The authorities of Nepal confirmed 768 dead and more than three thousand people missing following a natural disaster that affected the country. The number of victims continues to increase as rescue operations advance in the most affected areas.

About 3,000 people remain missing in both countries hit by the disaster, with 2,426 of those missing on the Nepalese side alone. Local authorities fear that the death toll may rise significantly in the coming hours.

Rescue teams face enormous difficulties in accessing the most remote and destroyed regions, where entire villages have been devastated. Many survivors remain without access to shelter, clean water, and basic medical care.
