Shooting at rave in Switzerland leaves one dead and five wounded

cbn30 August 2026 at 10:46

A shooting during a rave party in northern Switzerland resulted in one person dead and five others injured, some in serious condition. The incident was recorded and confirmed by local police on this Sunday. Security forces are carrying out a large-scale operation in the region to investigate the circumstances of the attack and identify those responsible.

Police also requested that witnesses share videos and photographs that may help in the investigations. The Swiss tabloid Blick reported on the attack and published a video attributed to a reader, recorded from an elevated point, in which a sequence of shots can be heard amid the nighttime movement of a street.

Despite having one of the highest rates of gun ownership in Europe, Switzerland registers few violent shooting incidents. In 2019, the country adopted stricter measures for the control and acquisition of firearms.
