The thermometers in mainland Portugal will rise again from September 2nd, possibly reaching 38°C in some inland points of the country. According to the thermal anomaly maps, maximum temperatures have already registered a rise, although they remain below the reference climatological average. For Sunday, September 1st, forecasts point to values between 21°C in Viana do Castelo and 31°C in Beja.

Between Monday and Tuesday, a slight rise in temperatures is forecast along the interior strip of the country. However, it is from Wednesday that the heat should settle over most of the Portuguese territory, remaining at least until Friday, September 4th.

The Baixo Alentejo, the Algarve, and some locations in the Lisbon and Setúbal districts should be the only areas of the country to register null or slightly positive thermal anomalies. The rest of the Portuguese territory should maintain values below the reference climatological normal for this time of year.
